Education

Colin obtained his Juris Doctorate in Michigan, graduating in 1992 and beginning his law career shortly thereafter. During his studies, he found his way to the Law Review, as a result of his academic brilliance and unstoppable fervor for the law. Additionally, he was awarded the “Top Gun” award during his final year of law school, further emphasizing his position as one of the best and brightest members of the distinguished Law Review publication.

Background

When he finished earning his law degree, Mr. Bresee started his career as a Denver criminal lawyer. At first, he served as a prosecutor for the Denver City Attorney’s Office. From there, he found his way to Grand Junction, where he worked in the Mesa County District Attorney’s Office for two years. Telluride, Colorado became his next home; it was here that he was welcomed as an attorney in the San Miguel District Attorney’s Office.

During his time as a prosecutor, Colin prosecuted a number of felony and misdemeanor cases, with many of them going to jury trial. He worked across several other counties in his then-Judicial District, including Delta, Montrose, Ouray, and Gunnison counties. Mr. Bresee was also called upon as a “Special Prosecutor” for a number of cases across other Judicial Districts in Colorado during this time.

Colin left the prosecutorial side of the law in 1997 to pursue his passion as a criminal defense attorney in Denver. At this point, he established his own private law firm. His experience as both a public servant and former prosecutor—combined with his current role as a defense attorney—enables him to provide invaluable knowledge and protection on behalf of his clients.
